This article relates to the Big Picture Question as in the article is talks about how a Indian- American women was considered to be a “high threat” because she had money troubles and visited family abroad a lot. This goes to show how people are stereotyped around the world for their color and are considered to be a risk just because of the things that they do. An Indian-American women's traits were “considered undesirable and threatening when the person possessing them is a South Asian American woman” (Pg. 3). This goes to show how people really do think of different colored people as different as just because of her travelling overseas a lot, she was considered a threat. This is a huge stereotype as not every brown-skinned person is a threat, even though many happen to consider them to be so.…

In George Orwell’s novel, 1984, Winston Smith is a rebel who does not conform to the unconscious and homogeneous people of which society consists. Instead, Winston rebels through his acts of suspicion; however, he does not bring about reform but becomes one with society as humanity and individuality finally dissipates. The act of preserving humanity is to hold onto the quality or state of being human along with the impulses and instincts that are associated with it.…

The second reason why there isn’t adequate women representation in the government is incumbency. “On average, about 89% of house members run for reelection -- and 97% are reelected. This means that every election cycle, about 86% of seats are already taken”(Kliff) This is clearly unjust since more than 80% which is even more than ¾ of the House is reelected. This means that opinions and ideas are repeated and…

In the article “Talking Past Each Other” Blaunder speaks about how there is a gap on how to perceive racism, which reflects a difference between both race (color/white). In the conversation between the white male (Bob), and black female (Shontell) we can clearly see how there is a gap on their perception of racism. Bob is telling Shontell that why would she considered US as racist, if the President himself is black. Her respond showed Individualistic Fallacy, on how her thoughts are based on ideas and prejudices. In this fallacy racism is only a collection of nasty thought she might have about the country itself, that’s why her respond was “you can’t see the forest for its tree”.…

Despite the natural rights and humane principles presented in our nation, we are not all treated equally. Our modern world struggles with social and racial discrimination, despite lawful efforts to prevent such attrocities. This has impacted our society through unspeakable means, and has molded many of our beliefs and ideals regarding the freedom and equality of those around us and how they strive to rightfully earn and represent these privleges. These thoughts were much different in 1832, however, and are demonstrated through Maria W. Stewart's lecture. Through careful utilization of the three rhetorical strategies, Stewart enables herself to appeal to logic, emotion, and ethics to persuade her audience of her personal (although biased)…
