Explain Why Girls Should Not Be Allowed To Play Sports Essay

Decent Essays
I think that girls should be allowed to play boys sports, at Harrisburg High School, as well as any other school. At some schools there are boys volleyball teams and thats a ‘girls’ sport, so why can’t there be a girls football team? Some may try and say that girls aren't tough enough to play with the boys. “First, it's called a boys' team for a reason girls don't have the body for it so how would they be able to do the techniques that actually work towards the goal for winning? Example: FOOTBALL! Try watching a girl play that and then come back and tell me what you think” (anonymous). This quote was from a man that’s basically saying that girls just can’t play tough sports. But then go watch a boy that’s never played volleyball before, they

In the article titled “Face-Off on the playing Field,” Judith B. Stamper explorers the issue of female athletes competing on traditional boys’ sports teams. First, stamper explains how opponents argue that girls are not aggressive enough. They say that playing contact sports like football and wrestling put girls at risk of serious physical harm. The author also reports that some male athletes are uncomfortable having physical contact with girls. Some boys feel that it is wrong or ungentlemanly to be aggressive toward girls.…

Ladies could not always play the same games as men. In the past, women had a lower status than men. Because the men were superior, a lady’s place was in her home cooking meals, cleaning messes, and watching the children. Women fought for a chance to play sports, including basketball. These women were finally able to play the sports, but the audience thought the games to be too rough, so the rules changed.…

In sport today I believe women are treated in an unfair way to their male counterparts. Sport is controlled by the media in this century and women are looked at as sexual objects rather than for their talent like men are. The women are also then expected to wear skimpy clothing not because it’s better for the sport but because of marketing. Professional female athletes are seen as inferior to their male counterparts and therefore don’t get as much media coverage. Women athletes play the exact same games, train equally as hard, yet are still getting paid a large amount less than men.…

I think this is wrong because you never see a female trainer in male sports and to back this up men even train women. This fact supports me by saying most trainers in the major sports are men. All of the NFL's trainers are men. The opposing views believe they should be allowed to play football and that they should all be allowed to have equal rights regardless if they are a woman or a guy they feel like there training ability is much stronger than a male and I believe that women should not be allowed to play in male sports because there can lead to many safety concerns and it can cause sexual harassment which can cause lawsuits and so on. So these are the different views on females playing in males sports buy into football there are many injuries and a guy hurting a girl could open a big lawsuit , do we want…

America is a free country where everyone is able to express themselves. Some girls and boys like to express themselves by playing sports, by not letting girls play boy’s sports and not letting boys play girl’s sports, you're not letting them express themselves. If a girl wanted to play baseball why wouldn’t she be able to, boys only use a smaller ball when they play baseball, or if a boy wanted to play softball, they just use a bigger ball in softball than baseball. You get hurt no matter what you play whether it football, baseball, softball, even girls basketball it shouldn’t matter. It is not a very big deal that a girl wants to play football or a boy wants to play softball they are able to make there own decisions.…

So they could not discount her for what she had done (Trahan). With that being said, girls should be able to play boy sports, it is not right to split them up, girls are talented and strong as boys, and splitting them up is not fair.…
