Transitioning from high school to college is easy for some, and complicated for others. Everyone has different kinds of struggles and challenges in college, for some is math, for others its anatomy, but one struggle that most of the recent high school graduates have is reading and writing at college level. Reading and writing is a crucial tool that students need for college and for the rest of their life. For most of the classes a college student takes, there will be at least one major reading and/or writing assignment that needs to be completed. Whichever job or career the students decide to take, they will surely have some kind of work that will require these skills. Also, having excellent reading and writing skills will be extremely helpful to know, especially in college, because most college courses will call for the students to have a firm understanding of those skills. For most, if not all of the classes that a student will take in college will require them to read and/or write at least one major assignment. Regrettably, studies have shown that students are not prepared to read, write or think at college level. According to a recent national survey conducted by the educational testing organization ACT Inc., high school teachers believe that with the material that they have taught their students will be enough for them and that they are ready for college level work, but according to the university professors they surveyed, they are not. The high school teachers that were surveyed had more assurance that their students were all set to handle the requisites of writing, basic grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, critical thinking, and reading, than the college professors
