One thing that I could do differently is to provide students with a choice board at the end of a unit. Most of the time students are expected to complete a pencil and paper test to show that they understand the content, however, for a student like “Bob” it would be best to give him opportunities to do something more artistic. Another way that I could meet his needs is by incorporating more graphic organizers during writing time. Writing is a subject where he does struggle and I think that providing him with a visual organizer, and allowing him to draw, as a way of brainstorming may help him. Incorporating pictures, visual cues, and videos whenever possible, could help “Bob” comprehend the material because it would give him the opportunity to “see” the text in a different way.
