“Actions speak louder than words”, a saying i’m confident almost everyone has heard once or twice in their lifetime, is the epitome of why we should treat people rightfully. Though not everyone may see eye-to-eye on this, I firmly believe that the manner in which you treat someone greatly affects their perception of you. “The best index of a person’s character is how he treats people who can’t do him any good, and how he treats people who can’t fight back.” I consider this quote by Abigail VanBuren to be very true. What it means is that we can determine someone’s character based on how they treat others. People who will only do good for someone who would return the favor have bad character. Someone like this would take advantage of others to get to where they want to go in life, only having shallow relationships with others and not bothering to hold a genuine friendship.…

A universal message that applies to everyone is to be kind and humble to those around you. It is always right to respect others, regardless of whom they are or what they have done. In the essay “Be cool to the Pizza Dude” by Sarah Adams, the thematic message was to be kind and have empathy for those who have it harder than you because you never know what someone is going through. First, Sarah Adams states stay calm and forgive the pizza dude if he cuts you off while you are driving. In the essay, Sarah’s first principal was, “coolness to the pizza delivery dude is a practice in humility and forgiveness, I let him cut me off in traffic…”…

Put the golden rule and the old book buying trick together and there is the motto for life. Don’t treat people by outward impressions and always think of how you would feel in that situation. Both John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein wrap their stories around the idea that when people are treated as they appear, they will start to act that way. Nietzsche said “Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster.” The characters Victor in Frankenstein and George in Of Mice and Men both were given a great responsibility, both of which failed because of outward impressions of their responsibilities.…

Always be kind to someone because you do not know the battles they are going through. One kind word can turn someone who is suicidal, to not want to kill themselves. It doesn’t take much out of you, to just be nice to someone. Everyone should have a good relationship with their parents, or a guardian. Do actions speak louder than words? Benjamin Franklin once said “well done is better than well said.” I believe this corresponds with actions speak louder than words for the reason that all of us have the capacity to lie and moreover, only a few have the audacity to state the truth. Thus, creating a person’s action the only verification you can have. For example, I have recently watched many of the presidential debates, and as for now, they both state they will do all they can in their power to make America its very best.…

As famously written by Oscar Wilde, “Morality is simply the attitude we adopt towards people whom we personally dislike.” The concept of respect serves as a basis for my personal moral foundation; explicitly, regard others in the manner you wish to receive, respect the viewpoints and decisions of others, and refrain from constructing prior judgements of those you come across. The ultimate moral trial commences in the presence of immorality. Your success is determined by your counter reaction to disrespect. How do you respond to such treatment when nothing…
