In keyboarding, accuracy is more important than speed. Accuracy is a measurement of how often one types the spelling of a word, uses punctuation and capitalization, and spacing in a document correctly. Moreover, typing is a form of communication and therefore, proper formatting, grammar, and spelling matter. It is also a reflection of one’s attention to detail. In this course, students were to spend 10 to 30 minutes a day typing the advanced typing drills at the Typing Test Now web site and then take two five-minute typing tests. In addition, students were given four opportunities throughout the course to improve his or her accuracy. For these assignments, I focused more on accuracy than speed.
