We all hear about horse accidents on the road due to drivers being inconsiderate when passing by. This could be stopped by putting a law in place so that drivers have to take consideration and pass slowly and widely which could reduce the amount of injuries happening to horses and riders when riding on the road. Many riders have no choice whether to cross the road or not, some may have to cross the road to get to another bridleway. The horses don’t have a choice whether they cross the roads or not, so why do angry drivers take it out on them?
Yes the driver may think that it’s unfair that horses and riders don’t pay an additional tax to ride on the road but that is because there is no tax in place for them to pay. I bet most riders if they were told they had to pay tax to ride/cross the road they would. It I said that motorists don’t have to pay tax, so why should horse riders? Motorists only pay a fee for how much pollution their vehicle emits and I’m sure you all know that horses don’t emit pollution (apart from the odd poo that they clean up). …show more content…
Horses are large and powerful animals but that doesn’t mean that they can’t spook at something that scares them such as a car or a truck passing by really fast. Horses are unpredictable and the rider takes a risk of taking them out on the road. The rider on the horse could be a little child that is just a beginner and they may not have a choice to cross the road. Imagine if it was your family member crossing the road on a horse or pony, would you take care when passing or stopping? The answer is yes, yes you would so why wouldn’t you take consideration of other people’s family
