Explain What Would Happen If Girls And Boys Played On The Same Sports Teams

Decent Essays
Have you ever thought what would happen if girls and boys played on the same team in sports? I don't think girls and boys playing co-ed in middle school is a good idea. Less people would make sports teams, it would cost the school more money to buy more and additional equipment, there would have to be stricter rules if boys and girls played on the same sports teams. This is why girls and boys should not play on the same sports team! +
Couches have said that if sports teams were co-ed less students would make the team because they would need to combine two teams into one . Also if sports teams were co-ed parents would complain that their kids never had enough playing time . Even if you made the team, girls and boys would need the same playing

I believe that attending coeducational schools better prepares kids for the future, since in the real world men and women work, study, and live together. Although I don’t agree with separating the sexes, Christine Flowers makes really interesting points in her article. She says that boys and girls can mix at social parties, sports events, and other places outside of school, but that having them sit next to you in class can be intimidating, distracting and could prevent learning and participation. At Bryn Mawr, the all girls school she attended, Christine described the women as being “brilliant, independent, and focused.”…

There is absolutely no way that women would just sit back and watch the men play all kinds of different sports as they would only be able to sit on the sidelines and cheer the men on. Women are resilient and because of that I know that if Title IX hadn’t been written into the Education amendment in 1972, then it would have been written later on. Title IX had turned the life of a female athlete completely around, but even if it didn’t exist, the female population would still be as powerful, if not more, than they already are. There are many things that are wrong with Title IX and the amendment has proven to not be enough for women to achieve equality in a world where men are considered to be drastically better and have a higher value in life. Title IX may have given women more equality when it comes to colleges and universities, but it has, by no means, been the main reason why women have been interested in sports or…

All players will expect the same compensation, for playing a sport whether they are gender, race, or level of skill. Title IX is a very wide-ranging federal law that disallows discrimination on the basis of the sex in any federally funded education program or activity, will always apply so this will require every team to be treated as equals. This includes all sports like tennis players, swimmers, and more. This will become the new normal for all athletes. Paying all teams, male and female, requires an outrageous amount of money as well.…

Co-Ed sports teams consist of athletes of both genders. These types of teams are typically only available for the younger kids, but what if it was an option for the older players too? Having the option to play co-Ed sports could be a massive push in the right direction for both the children involved, and the reputation of the school promoting it. The school would likely be the only one in town offering the student athletes a fun and healthy way to learn to work with others, relieve themselves from stress, and learn to have mutual respect for others no matter your differences. Co-Ed sports teams could be a great way to learn to work with others, help them make friends, and a healthy relief from school stress for everyone.…

But it wasn’t always this way. John Meadows, a Boulder local, remembers what it was like previous to Title IX, which was passed in 1972. He attended Boulder High School, and at the time “...girls could...only play field hockey. At [my wife’s] high school in Hawaii, the only sport available for girls was synchronized swimming.” Similar situations were found throughout the United States, and in 1971, one year before the passing of Title IX, only 7% of all high school athletes were girls (CITE).…

I believe that men and women should not play sports together. Every person has had a time in their life when they had an argument about which gender is better. On a playground in grade school every child has been in an argument saying “boys and girls drool” or vice versa. In this day and age those same kids have grown up and women have gain equal rights with men which they deserve. There’s an argument saying that men and women should be playing sports together as well.…

Although boys and girls play and enjoy the same sports they have separate teams, however they should be allowed to choose if they want a girl and boy team. This choice could benefit both the team and children a like. First and foremost coed sports can help children socially and prepare them for when they have to work with the opposite gender. Coed teams also encourage mutual respect between genders. These teams also promote equality between genders, and can create friendships that may have never been on a single sex them.…

Coed sports can give one a chance to be less intimidated by the other sex. Being friends with the opposite sex can become an important lifetime quality. Etienne Noumen wrote in her article on pros and cons of coed games that after research, she discovered that many athletes look forward to meet and greets with their opposite sex (1). Building a friendship with the reverse sex can help athletes build knowledge from one another’s actions.…

Schools even with the passing of Title IX have found ways to sneak around the rules and still have gender inequality. Many females who try to participate in male dominate sports are often bullied and treated badly. Along with men who try to participate in female dominate sports. Women need to be treated as equals to men. Men are also a small focus point for gender inequality.…

Studies have proven that kids same sex classes get better grades, but grades aren't the only thing that matters. Having boys and girls together helps kids develop as a person, because they're exposed to more, therefore we should not have girls and boys separated into different classes in school. First off, there are more than just two genders. Where are you planning on putting the kids that don't fit into those two, very small, society conforming, boxes? What about non-binary or gender-fluid kids, to name just two of the other possibilities.…
