What have you learned about reading and writing in your previous English courses? I have learned many different ideas and topics in English. Starting from kindergarten all the way through senior year, I continue to learn new things but also revisit old concepts. While some people enjoyed reading or even writing from the beginning, I did not like either reading or writing as a kid. Nowadays, I like both reading and writing short stories a lot! I believe now it is possible to learn new things everyday by reading and writing. To start off, I thought I should start from the beginning, where it all began. In kindergarten, every week we were given two small books to read with our parents. As the year went by, the books became a little harder every week because we were learning! We began to learn how to write our names and form sentences. It’s crazy to see how far we’ve come from where we started to now in our senior year. Starting in first grade, we began to do Accelerated Reader Testing. This is where we were assigned a “goal” for how many points they thought we could reach by reading a book and taking a test on a computer based on the book. Kurtz’ class, we read a book in class called the “Law Book”. The book taught us how to write a good, strong, meaningful essay. It gave a bunch of helpful ideas on what to say. In years in the past, I’ve come across a few smaller problems when writing an essay. And while reading this book last year, it answered a few of my questions. As I’ve continued to write more essays, I’ve slowly learned how to start and end a essay strong and powerful. At the end of the year, we wrote a research paper on a certain subject. I wrote about Equal Pay for Women. While researching for my essay, I learned a bunch of things that I didn’t know. I always am learning something new while
