Explain The Three Basic Parenting Styles

1. Completely describe the three basic parenting styles. Be sure to include the characteristics of each style. Which do you think would create the most well-adjusted child? Why do you think that? Authoritative parents are very strict they have so many rules for the children to follow, however, they don’t always explain why they have the rules. This can cause children to rebel against them. Permissive parents set rules for their children but not as many as the authoritative parent and they also explain to their kids why the rule is there in the first place, which makes the child want to listen to it more. Permissive parents are more nurturing they listen to their kids let them ask questions and when the child does something wrong they tend to listen and forgive rather than punishing them. Indulgent parents Have low expectations and are very detached from what their kids are doing. They rarely punish them because they are more like a friend than a parent. Also they have boundaries which all kids need. You are not your child’s friend you are the parent the person who is to guide them and mold them in to a productive member of society. Authoritative does that but they do not listen to their kids or give them chances to learn from their mistakes like the permissive parent does. That’s why I think permissive produces well rounded children. Great communication, have rules but not too many that the child doesn’t learn from their mistake and they grow up to learn respect for people not just to fear
