The structure of the skeletal system is very diverse and complex, made up of many different components that all work together to perform certain functions, without these individual components the whole body would fail to work efficiently when attempting to preform even the easiest of tasks.

One vital section is the axial skeleton this is the component of the skeleton that consists of the bones of the head and trunk of a vertebrate. It’s made up of 80 bones and is composed of eight parts; the skull bones, the ossicles of the middle ear, the hyoid bone, the rib cage, sternum and the vertebral column therefore proving to me essential in the body as it is protecting the brain and the vital organs keeping us alive. Our skeletal system also protects us its hard riged shape means it can protect the softer areas of our body, for example the rib cage keeps our organs safe. But the skeletal system isn’t just to act as support and protection, there is bone marrow in our bones this produces red and white blood cells. Red blood cells carry oxygenated blood all around the body therefore allowing myscles to respire and flush away harmful substances like lactic acid. White blood cells are just as important as they fight infection and disese in the body fighting away any pathogens that’s why some people need bone marrow donated as they are in a deficiency of red and white blood
