Explain The Steps To The Scientific Method

Improved Essays
The Scientific Method is to help you better understand an experiment by making observations. The steps to the Scientific Method starts by asking a question. Ask a question about your experiment, a question that you do not know the answer to. The next step is to do back round research about your topic. Know your topic well to move onto the next step. Next, construct a hypothesis. Predict the outcome to your problem. Make an educated guess. Now, you must test your hypothesis by doing an experiment. Experimental data now becomes back round research for a future project. your experiment will now confirm or disprove your hypothesis. Next step is to analyze your data and make a conclusion. You should modify the procedure if needed and confirm the results by retesting your experiment. Record what happened during the experiment. Make a conclusion, find the result about the problem in your experiment. Last step is to communicate your results. Review all of your data and check to see if all of your data is correct. …show more content…

In this experiment, we were given a black bottle and a bag that had items that could be inside the bottle. The independent variable was the contents inside the bag, while the dependent variable was the contents inside the black bottle since that is what we had determine. In order to learn more about the elements of scientific inquiry, we made observations in order to come up with a hypothesis.…

The first step of any study is to pinpoint an area of interest and develop an idea or hypothesis that can be tested. It is an educated guess. After a possible hypothesis is reached, it is important to think of ways to disprove or confirm the hypothesis through experimentation; falsifiability is a major aspect of a valid hypothesis. After this step one would test the data to conclude whether or not the hypothesis is true. Every step of the experiment to test the hypothesis must be defined and replicable in order to get the same result every single time the experiment takes place.…
