Stages of Change In the Stages of Change theory, behavior change becomes a process not an event because individuals must go through different stages in order to make a change. Preparation is planning to take action within a few days and preparing on doing so. By, passing out brochures with more information such as the dangers of binge drinking, tips when dealing with peer pressure, and signs of alcohol poisoning will help the students learn why they should make changes. The SJSU students can prepare to make this change by educating themselves, stopping by the table, and listening to guest speakers who have had experience with binge drinking.
Action. Action is when the behavior has changed but for only six months, which means that the students will have changed their behavior of binge drinking within six months after the events. In order to measure this, Binge Drinking Awareness will pass out surveys before and after the eachs to see what the students have learned.
Maintenance. Once the six months are up, the next stage is maintenance where the students have retained the knowledge for more than six months. Binge Drinking Awareness will follow up with the participants and ask them to complete an online five question quiz to see what information they have retained and utilized since the ending of the program
