Explain the need for keeping records of assessment of learning and describe the types of records you would maintain.

Accurate, factual, up to date Record keeping is a very important part of a teacher’s role. They need to keep effective assessment records for every student. It allows both teacher and the student to reassess the teaching-learning relationship. This identity’s which students need more help, guidance and support and helps them understand what they need to do next to improve their work. This enables the teacher to base their lesson plans on a detailed knowledge of each pupil. Records tell us what has been taught and when. Summarise the requirements for keeping records of assessment in an organisation Some records are mandatory for all organisations and some have to be kept for legal reasons. All courses and organisations’ requirements will be different. These records should be kept locked up and secure. They are kept for many reasons: To satisfy auditors’ inspectors’ regulators, verifiers and to meet your own organisational requirements. They can be used to facilitate the supply of information to parents, effectively monitor the progress of the teacher and the learners, for planning and decision making by service providers. Good record keeping enables the service provider to collate information for decision making by law courts, security agencies and other government agencies, when needed. Records are used to ensure quality, health and safety e.g. you need an attendance register to know if a student is present in case of a fire. Personal records will help locate student’s relatives in times of emergency and provides details of any medication that the student is under. They are there for legal reasons, accidents and appeals, equal opportunities, Etc. Record can be useful, finding patterns of attendance or
