All Children follow very similar pattern of growth and development. The journey of physical activities begins when baby holds its head followed by turning over, crawling, sitting and eventually walking at the age of 12-18months. Most children follow these steps of physical development, some start walking before their first birthday while some may start walking independently when they are 18months old. Similarly, communication development begins when baby cries to seek attention and then responds carer with some sounds like ‘coo’, ‘ooh’, etc. At the age of 9months child starts saying ‘baba’, ‘mama’ and eventually starts talking by the age of 18-24months. Some may start talking early or later than mentioned period.

Professionals can help and support to reach the child develop well and reach his/her full potential.

An Individual learning plan can be devised to support a child facing difficulties in reaching the developmental milestone.

Delays in one aspect of development have a domino effect on other developments. For e.g. delay in speaking affects communication and social development. It is possible that delay in speech could be result of impaired hearing or speech difficulty. Though we understand that every child develops at different rate, there should be provision to guide, support those who fall behind or struggle to achieve development at expected rate. This is done by drawing individual learning plan, following it, monitoring and assessing individual on periodic intervals by specialists, teachers and teaching assistants.

Identification of rate in development can be supported by professional in many ways
 Physical development can be supported by providing materials and equipment which enhances motor skills. Activities like drawing, painting, solving jigsaw puzzles can help improve hand-eye
