Active support focuses on the needs of the individual and enables them to get actively involved in all aspects of their daily lives.
Staff plan and monitor daily activities with the individuals and interact with them in a way that encourages and supports their participation.

Hotel model is where support staff are doing things for individuals and they become observers in their own lives. The individuals are not given the chance to live their life how they wish. Care staff undertake all tasks and do not provide opportunities for individuals to participate in activities.
