I follow the Best Interests framework which is centered around the Children’s, Youth and Families Act and the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005.
The Best Interest framework involves 3 core work functions-
1.Assessment to inform the caseworker
2. Planning to guide the caseworker and client
3. Action to benefit the client.
The framework is centered around the best interests of the child. When dealing with child protection, early intervention is used to prevent entry or re-entry into the statutory system through the provision of services.
