Aging is an important aspect of life and planning must be done to ensure that as we age that we have the support and resources available that we need to be taken care of properly. Families have different situations that have to be address as a person in their family reaches old age. Family decisions should be made that keep the care and wellbeing of the older members of the family as the primary concern. Not all decisions are going to be the same for all families and each individual situation would need to be considered to determine what is going to work best for each family. I will look at some aspects of planning and what I have discussed with my family going forward.…

By the age of 4-5 years a child can usually play cooperatively and well with other children. They may also be able to sort out minor disagreements between themselves. They show concern when they can see their peers visibly upset and will try to comfort them. As language has developed they are able to express their emotions through language rather than behaviour.…
Although my mother kept in touch and came home on the weekends, Shannon was now my mother. She would cook us dinner, help us with homework, clean the house, and even do some laundry. Shannon did not want to become the mother of the home, but Shannon being Shannon, could not say no either. Eventually my father became better and started to help around, although he never really stopped. Shannon taught me not to give up on family because after all they are all you have.…

Moving here from North Carolina when I was four changed my life completely, I was away from my family who I lived with my whole life, thrown into a school with a bunch of kids who lived here since they were born and told to “make friends.” This changed the next 13 years of my life to something I can never picture not having. The first four years, both my parents had full time jobs and my grandma helped raise me a lot, she taught me so many manners and how to behave, she even ended up living across the street from me for 2 of those years, they were rough for my parents, new baby, just moving, having to find jobs, making friends, and getting food on the table for me. Thats where my amazing family came in, with bringing home cooked meals…
Developmental milestones are things that most children can do at a certain age, these milestones are reached in how children play, learn, speak, behave and their movement. ‘More than 90% of babies at this age are walking well enough that they are able to squat down, pick something up off the floor and jump back up again’ (Dana Sullivan, 2015) Children start from learning how to sit up alone which gives them a new perception of the world, crawling gives the child more freedom and independence, they use their upper body strength to pull themselves up from sitting to standing which then later on leads to them being able to stand alone without the assistance of an object or person. 17 month old children are developing rapidly, their cognitive,…

When I was born, my grandma took my mother, older sister, and I under her wing. The reason why she took us in was because at the time my mother and father we trying to get a house. Still a baby at the time, the house I was living in wasn't the fanciest house in the neighborhood; however, it was a roof underneath my head, and I was grateful for this. Losing my father at a young age did not only take a toll on me, but my 3 siblings as well. Death can sometimes break a family apart, but for mine it did the opposite. A person will not understand how tough losing a parent is until it is experienced. Then again, no one knows the joy of gaining a parent either. I am strong because I have lost, and I am successful because I have gained.…
