September 28, 2017 Money Cannot Buy Happiness Some people argue that money can not buy happiness, others argue that money equals happiness, but what is money? And what is happiness? In order to define money we need to define poor. There is so much debate regarding how to define poor. Poor is different to different people with different cultures. But most people agree that If a person never went to sleep hungry and thinking about food with an empty fridge, then chances are they have never been poor.. Some people define happiness as a feeling we find in ourselves as humans that makes us glad and content. Others define their happiness with how much stuff they have. The more they have the happier they are. But does that mean money can buy happiness? Logic says an object shouldn't be able to define happiness. Nevertheless stuff can make a person happy but only for a moment. Everyone has a different perspective about happiness, furthermore what makes some people happy can be different from what makes others happy. However people all agree that money for sure can't buy the emotions we get from love and affection, it also can’t buy knowledge or bring back a loved one who died and the memories we had with them. And that happiness is enjoying the little things that life brings, like marriage, graduation and the birth of our kids. Which money can’t …show more content…
There is an arabic saying that goes “ If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fisshing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”.
Winston Churchill once said “We make a living by what we get; We make a life by what we give.” Giving back is as good for us as it is for those you are helping. As a child I always heard my parents say “ giving is better than receiving.” There is compelling evidence that giving equals happiness. Through MRI, we now know that giving activates the same parts of the brain that are stimulated by sex and food. Giving others may just be the secret to living a life that is happier, weathier, healthier, meaningful and more prodective.
Basicly the defenition of rich, poor and happiness is different from one person to another. We all want to be happy and it is our fundamental right as humans to be happy and pursue happiness and do whatever it takes to make ourselves happy as long as it is legal and it is not hurting others or violating the rights of others in the process. “ Life, Liberty and pursuit of Happiness” is in the Declaration of Independence and that is one of the many reasons this country is great. God Bless

Benjamin Franklin once said: "Money has never made man happy, nor will it, there is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more of it one has, the more one wants." Although money is a major key to success, it isn’t the key to happiness. Finding a purpose and seeing it through is what we strive for in life. In Death of a Salesman, Willy, an aging salesman, has trouble finding customers who want to buy his products and he can’t see it’s because of one flaw he has: He’s focused more on his character and profit and not the things that truly matter like his family.…

If you aren’t happy, what’s the importance of all the money you have? Sure, you can buy the finer things, but what’s the importance of anything if you’re not happy at the end of the day? It’s only the human disease of greed, never being satisfied, and always wanting more that gets in the way of a happy life. Like the idiom, “the grass always seems greener on the other side of the fence” instead of paying so much attention on the other side of the fence, look at and cherish what lies in your very own…

In the article “Can Money Buy Happiness?” by Sarah Gervais (an Associate Professor of Psychology) she suggests that money is important to happiness. In making this comment Gervais claims that having a higher income can give people “better access to homes in safer neighborhoods, better health care and nutrition, fulfilling work, and more leisure time (2).” However, Gervais believes that “once an person’s income reaches a certain level and basic needs for food, health care, safety, and shelter are met, the positive effects of money such as buying a dream home are often offset by the negative effects such as working longer hours, or in more stressful jobs, to maintain that income (2).”…
