Surviving High School High school seems like a different world compared to the easiness of the lower grades. Transitioning from middle school to high school is very different. The high school is gigantic, and filled with a lot of people. It is very easy to get lost. Freshman year is exciting, terrifying, and an adventure. Some ways to survive this major change include not being in the way, doing all work in classes, and adjusting to the changes of everyday activities. My freshman year I felt as though I was always in the way. I had no idea where I was going, where my classrooms were, or even where to walk. Seniors seemed to be the biggest, dumbest, and rudest people in the school. They would always say things, such as, “stupid freshman,” or, “get out of the way.” These things hurt my feelings, but I understand how having someone in the way all the time is annoying. Don’t take mind to them. They are just excited and stressed out about the year. I suggest to quickly learn the way from class to class, and going with the flow of traffic. In middle school, the counselors basically picked the classes that a student was to take. In high school, the student gets to pick what classes they want to take. The counselors try to help freshman year by not having a lot of choices, but going into the upper grades there are more choices in classes to take. The reason is that the teachers and staff want to ease the freshman into the changes of high school. Teachers make it very important to know all work in class and homework are very important. Most teachers check homework randomly for grades. It is wise to always do the homework on time to make sure all points are given. Sometimes, teachers even have pop-quizzes over homework. It may seem that it is overwhelming in the beginning, but eventually, it will seem like
