Explain How To Devise A Purification Protocol To Purify Enzymes

Improved Essays
My current research agenda is on the guidelines of my coursework. The most interesting, is an independent research project over the purification and partial characterization of an enzyme. The goal of this project is to devise a purification protocol to purify our enzyme from crude starting materials to a state where it is relatively pure. We will take it as far as we can within the constraints of time and available equipment. During this process we will become familiar with the various techniques available to purify enzymes. We will also become familiar with the kinds of decisions involved in designing, organizing, and executing a multi-step protocol.

What predictions would you make about the enzyme activity if you were to continue to change each of the factors in Parts A – E? The predictions that would be concluded about the enzyme activity if it were to continue and change each of the factors in Parts A – E, would be that enzyme activity will decrease due to the optimal temperature, pH, concentrations, and metal salt concentration not being obtained. How does changing the concentration of enzyme affect the rate of decomposition of H2O2?…

In most cases, a chemical reaction is able to occur in more than one way; enzyme kinetics studies the effect of how biological catalysts can influence biochemical reactions. Enzymes play an important role in regulating metabolic pathways in the human body and without enzymes they will not function efficiently. The rate of a reaction is enhanced by enzyme activity which provides alternate pathways for the reaction to proceed by.…

Benner's theory might not be accurate because people learn differently but it is a very realistic theory. My first job as a CNA probably took all the whole step, my first week of work was very scary, didn't know so much and the residents so well. I was trained for a week and was left to do ADLs for 18 residents. I did my first few months as I was taught in my CNA class, just by the book.…

In January 2016, 637,067 homeless citizens were accounted for in the US. Out of those 637,067, 4,000 were accounted for in Virginia. Homelessness in Virginia has gone up 4.2% in the last three years. Aren’t those facts just a bit unsettling? When I heard we had to a Capstone Project, I knew homelessness in VA had to be incorporated into my project.…

Discussion: The specific purpose for this study was to see how enzyme activity would change as there was a change in temperature and pH. Both temperature and pH were hypothesized to have an affect on enzyme activity. Each had an optimal temperature. At this point, the rate of enzyme activity would stop increasing and begin to decrease. For temperature, it was hypothesized that the optimal temperature would be 48°C.…

My first leadership experience came from being a voluntary work as a life- and management skills trainer, where I had to deal with different background, minds and studies trainees, to be the leader of my own session, the thing that let me build my communication, discussion and presentation skills. During this period I have met so many people with various way of thinking, where I succeed dealing with them each time. After that I started working as assistant supervisor in a psychological support centre for the international medical corps, where I had the chance to deal with very professional and creative people, the hardest thing was being accepted as the youngest member of the team and to be known as a leader , but being in this atmosphere…

The purpose of conducting this experiment was to explore how different factors affect the reaction rate of enzymes reacting with their corresponding substrates in order to learn more about how enzymes function in different environments. The independent variables investigated in this experiment were the concentration of different substrates, the temperature of the environment, and the effect of a catalyst on the reaction rate. The dependent variable for all of the investigations was the time it took for the reaction to occur. To investigate the effect of the concentration of the substrate on the reaction time, four test tubes were used.…
