Reading A&P reminded me of growing up in a relatively small town. With all the same feeling of such monotonous in everyday actions. As if following a routine for life, as if scripted how it ought to be.with the norms of the residents of it, nothing ever really changed, and neither did the closed mindedness of people around. the setting of A&P influentially dictates the people within the small beach front community, having a great impact of their own attitudes, behaviors, as well as their decisions and treatment of tourists differences.
Growing up in a small town I can relate to how it can influence your attitude towards certain things. It’s the brainwashing effect that people have on one another in the world. Simply enough if an action is deemed unholy from your church it’ll soon become a vital part of the small community’s norms. Much like in A&P when sammy states “I know you don't.
