In Drag Race, queens challenge the normative understanding of sexuality and gender. The queens showed so much pride in being drag queens and show that being straight is common, it is not something special. This challenges our understanding of sexuality because most trans people are always seen as being insecure of who they are, but drag queens embrace it. This challenges our understanding of gender because men and women (two normative genders) is considered higher than QLGBT, but the queens portray as being drag queen is even better.

Unfortunately, the rates of assault are high, but arrests and convictions are low. In rape culture, rape is not seen as an enactment of power, control and anger,;instead it is seen are something that just expresses your sexual desire. Instead of blaming the rapist and finding out why rape rates are increasing, people like to blame the victim. Police will say that it is a woman’s fault for wearing a short skirt, going out late at night, being drunk etc.. Men are mostly not blamed and the rapist is given excuses by saying that “he could not help himself”. Rape culture portrays tremendously in the media. Many of the advertisements especially the perfume ads show naked women being captured by men. There were many rape myths that were discussed, however, my favorite one was that “Women often make false reports of rape”. This is not true because only 8% rapes reported by women are false. Also, women do not get any benefits like money, so they would not be giving false reports.
