Soundcloud is a place where anyone can upload music for free and anyone can listen to your music. Soundcloud has “followers” who can follow you and stay up to date with all the music you release and like it. Another useful feature for someone who is trying to get their music heard on soundcloud is the repost ability. If someone likes your music then they can repost it and they can share it with their followers, kind of like saying “this is really good you guys need to hear this”. Musicanics have to portray something they are not sometimes to make everyone else happy. They often have to be a persona more than a person, because the persona may be more profitable or bring them more attention than if they had been themselves. Labels will also make you put out content you may not be proud of or have even wrote, but if you want the funding to and to not be cut from the contract you have to sellvery often for people like him. While he was on the label they tried to change him, they wanted him to talk a certain way and they gave him songs to act like he wrote so he could get radio play. He was not happy so he left that label because he saw how big his online following was and he knew while he may not be making the same amount of money he would have a fanbase that would like him, or him and not someone he is not. The internet has helped gain money for artists as well. In the past artists had to print out copies of their music on CDs and try to sell them when first starting. Musicians are not always the most wealthy people at the start so having to pay for CDs which you might not even make a profit or sell them all could hold someone back. You could have performed in public and hoped someone with influence saw you and liked you enough but that most likely would not happen.
