Improved Essays
I was faced with one of the hardest choices I've ever faced in my life. I had to choose between the sport I played for over 7 years and eventually came to hate and the sport that I actually enjoyed and made me happy. To some this might be an easy choice, but to me it changed my life.

Football, this was a sport that I have played since as long as I can remember. This sport changed me and made me who I am today. Growing up, I use to enjoy going to practice everyday but as soon as i reached high school it all changed. I dreaded going to practice and I use to be so nervous before a game that I just wanted to go home, quit and never play again. As a year went by, the emptiness inside just kept growing and I never felt happy but I felt as if I had to play, as if I was obligated to play by my coaches, my teammates, and also by my family. So, as much as I hated it I kept playing, but the fire I use to have playing the sport just simply burned out and I was no longer having fun and I knew I had to do something about this.

As soon as I stepped on that track, I instantly fell in love. It was just something about running on that track free of everything, free of your worries, free of life, knowing it was just you and that other person to your right or left. For that one fifty second race its as if everything in your life doesn't matter, its a chance for you to be

Have you ever played a sport and wanted to give up but there was reason why you didn't. One important belief/value I hold is that I believe that if never giving up you ultimately don't lose. When I was at a young age I first started to play football. When I first started football I wasn't good because I had a terrible coach who didn't teach me the fundamentals of football and a that point I had wanted to quit But my parents encouraged me not to.…

I picked it up and was skeptical about the sport because it seemed as if it was impossible to catch or pass a ball. I played for a Wheeler high school club team for my first time ever, I can say they were not a good team. The coach was harsh and tough on the beginners like myself and he made me want to quit playing. Mid way through the season he put me in the game and I had got the ball for the first time ever, I was so excited I couldn’t contain myself. I took the ball down the field and I shot, it felt as if time froze for me.…

Without soccer, I would not know how to tell my story. I didn't have much free time for soccer teams when I was young because I had to take care of my 5 younger brothers when my mom wasnt home. But in sixth grade our neighborhood was full of Latinos that loved soccer, so that is how I started to become more passionate about it. Our neighborhood did not have a nice field. It didn't have goals or markings, it was pretty much dirt and grass.…

The moment you decide that you want to play the game of football, your life changes forever. At least mine did from the first time I strapped on my pads. I think Vince Lombardi reflected the essence of football in a small collection of words, “people who work together will win, whether it be against complex football defenses, or the problems of modern society.” The biggest part of the game is teamwork, a concept that I was introduced to early on, but we’ll get to that later. The first time I strapped on pads was in the hot August sun at 12 years old.…

The roar of the engine sends my heart racing as I pull out on to the track, one lap around and we are off, trucks at my side as we glide around the turns. The slick dirt pulling my back end around I move my hands, my automatic controls, the only thing keeping me from spinning out. It’s funny really because clichés aren’t my thing, however, at times idioms are just the thing to describe a situation or time period in one’s life, for instance the saying that “life is a roller coaster” couldn’t be more fitting for my life. The ups and downs, the highs and the lows, the twists and turns, life is just one big adrenaline rush and at times I feel I’m a junking, addicted to life.…
