How your heart reacts to different movies

In my analysis I found out that my hypothesis was correct . It is because when the results were compared, the greater outcome was horror movies. In the experiment the heart rate of subject one was 80 beats per minute, which is normal, and subject two’s heart rate was 72 beats per minute, this is also normal. When I showed the subjects the horror film “ Lake Placid” the heart rate of subject one raised up to 135 beats per minute! Test subject two’s increased to 128 beats per minute. However during the romantic movie “The Notebook” the heart rates of subject one was only 110 and the heart rate of subject two was 108. Next time not feed my test subjects sugar before the test. My STEAM Expo experiment was testing which hamster food gives hamsters the most energy to hamsters. I tested three store brand foods: Carefresh Complete, Sunseed, and Nibble Rings. I also tested one that I made based off of the research that I did prior to the experiment. I thought that this project was perfect for my three hamsters, because they are all very tired and lazy. I also think that other people can use my type of food so that their hamsters can be energetic, too.…

Discussion Since the experiment is now over I can see whether or not my hypotheses were right or wrong and whether or not the P-Value accepts or rejects the null hypothesis. I predicted that the control group would have the higher average body weight than the experimental rats, in this case my hypothesis was correct. Because the experimental rat was an adolescent it showed different symptoms than the adult rat. If the adult rat had hypothyroidism then they would gain weight, but because the experimental rat was an adolescent rat with hypothyroidism it did not gain weight. Therefore, the control group had a higher average body weight.…

The watch may not have taken the heart rate correctly, although on preliminary tests it did. These two influences may have been the most prominent extraneous variables that altered the data. Overall, the extraneous variables should have been considered for more accurate tests. Most of the data was correct, and was enough to make an actual conclusion to the experiment.…

In this experiment the students were required to provide urine samples three times in 60 minutes. This experiment was done to test urine volume, flow rate, total dissolved solids, and pH at each interval and record the differences in these variables depending on what each participant was asked to eat or drink. I hypothesized that the subjects asked to eat pretzels and drink soda would see an increase in total dissolved solids in their urine. In this experiment the 20 test subjects had to provide one urine sample at minute zero. Once this sample was collected they were to calculate urine volume, flow rate, total dissolved solids, pH, and use a urine test strip.…

Why do we Crave Horror Films? Why do we crave horror films? Some say it’s to overcome fear, some say to understand fear, others say just for the excitement. Yet, author of the novel Why we Crave Horror Movies, Mr. Stephen King seems to think differently. Mr. King believes that we all love horror movies because of three specific reasons: to prove that we can sit through an entire movie, to reassure ourselves that we are normal, and oddly just because people love seeing others in danger.…

We chose to conduct this experiment because both Amber and I are interested in athletics and the science side of it. There have been several researchers studying the effects of caffeine, and they believe it can enhance athletic performance and agility in sports. Because of this we believe if caffeine levels are increased, then time taken to run a lap will decrease when time is a function of caffeine level. To test this we will have a group of ten subject male and female who around the same athletic capabilities. Then, we will give them a set volume of liquid at different caffeine levels to see if the subjects running time changes with the caffeine.…

Running into the barn, going to an alien infested planet, dropping the only weapon, these are some common tropes that appear in all sorts of horror movies. In reality these events are easily avoidable. In Jaws instead of taking just one boat to hunt it down with only limited gear, take multiple boats armed with high-grade weapons and explosives. In the Thing simply not going to investigate the Norwegian research base would have resulted in no deaths. There are plenty of easy avoidable mistakes people make during horror films, and with this guide of what not to do during a horror movie maybe we can save a few B-list actors.…

Human beings are emotional creatures. We can be happy, sad, scared, and angry all at the same time. Some can be described as overly emotional, dramatic, cold, and crazy, but just how accurate and exclusive or inclusive are these given stereotypes, more importantly crazy? “Why we crave horror films?” by Stephen King is about the underlying reasons human beings are so drawn to the production of horror films and rollercoasters, what they bring out in us, and why we keep going back for more. King argues that horror movies satisfy an important and essential human necessity of grim impulse and socially unacceptable desires in everyone.…

    Count My Heartbeats

The heartbeat will be going faster once we’ve done the 20 sit-ups and the recovery time will take a while. My hypothesis was correct because once we started doing the sit-ups my heartbeat went faster and the time was not as long as I had thought. Negative feedback occurs when the response to a stimulus reduces the original stimulus; the system acts to reverse the direction of change. This happened during the experiment because when we did sit-ups our heart rate when faster and then it took time to go to its normal speed. Some errors that occurred during the experiment were that we were not on time with the timer and had to do it again; another error would be when I missed counted my heartbeats.…

However, two of the five subjects had a decrease in heart rate after the drama which created a lower average change in heart rate for this genre at 1.6 bpm. The horror film and the romantic film both had the highest average change in heart rate at a 4.6 bpm increase. Romantic movies could have a greater effect on teenagers because their hormones are changing and therefore a little romance could increase their heart…
