The materials and apparatus used in this experiment were: a PC computer, IWX/214, LabScribe Software, SP-304 Spirometer, FH-300 Spirometer flow hear and plastic tubes. The regular set up of the apparatus and more details of the procedure can be found from the Lab Manual on laboratory # 10 respiration, which was used as a reference. After setting the computer software (LabScribe), and calibrating voltage to 22 L which was written in the spirometer black box, a test of the Spirometer was performed to make sure it was in the right position. (A spirometer is an apparatus for measuring the volume of air inspired and expired by the lungs.) It was tested by recording one person breath on the software and observed the waves in the lung volume screen.

Through the process the subjects were sitting looking at the three different videos and at the same time recording their respiration. Subjects look at the blank paper after each video ended and every trial have different order of the video. The first trial for the subject was performed for acclimatization of the subject and for the spirometer to warm up. The data for the first trial was not presented because it can be unreliable data.
After each subject was tested, the data was saved for future references and later analysis. In addition to having the proof of the experiment and be able to perform the experiment in a given amount of time which was about 3 hours. Then, when the data was going to be analyze and recorded to our tables, several functions were added to the analysis screen of the software to get the data needed. From the data collected, it was recorded the tidal volume, breath period, inhalation and exhalation. With the functions added, the V2-V1 gave the Tidal Volume, T2-T1 gave the Breath Period, Max_dv/dt and Min_dv/dt gave the inhalation and the exhalation.
