Experiment 10 Crickets

During the experiment, several materials were needed to perform the experiment with ease. Ten crickets were needed and were provided by the teacher of the class. A clear container, including a lid, was also needed to contain the crickets. As well as crickets and a container, the lab required a working computer, with the Logger-Pro application already downloaded onto the computer. Many different devices, such as a carbon dioxide sensor and incubator, were needed to obtain the results of the experiment. The teacher allowing the students to conduct the experiment provided every one of the materials needed.
Multiple procedures were taken to accurately determine how the amount of carbon dioxide changes in different temperatures using crickets. First, the ten crickets provided were placed in a clear container with the lid covering the top, considering crickets can very easily escape and set in room temperature, or 21.5 degrees celsius, for five whole minutes. After five minutes, the crickets were removed, also removing the lid on the container containing the crickets and replacing it with a carbon dioxide sensor. If the container did happen to fall over, water could easily seep into the jar with the crickets inside, causing the crickets to drown and die. After five minutes, the crickets were removed from the ice water and the carbon dioxide sensor was placed in the container.
