American voters emplace these great expectations on presidents to carry out their ideas and beliefs. Most Americans believe that the president should fulfill these expectations and more. In the transition from a presidential election to a presidency the expectations of the president can change over time. Take, President Barack Obama. For example, going into 2009 there were certain expectations of president regarding the economy that were not met. Especially that Barack Obama performed some decisive economic decisions for example; the fiscal stimulus, the rebuilding of Detroit’s car companies, and doing this apparently averted a depression. In 2008, Obamas true believers, were looking for this change, they would be let down because of weak legislation.

For “middle” class Americans this health care reform act has done nothing but raise the cost of insurance, this is not what Obama promised coming into his presidency. Obama pledged to diminish the ideals of Bush’s’ presidency. For instance Obama tried to abolish Guantanamo bay detention camp, the camp was established in 2002 during Bush’s term. Obama requested to shut down the camp, but with an opposing congress, he was unsuccessful. During presidential elections most people have unrealistic expectations of this new president. When Obama was inaugurated into the white house, his true policies were a little different than his voters. This can be shown in his drop of approval rating, and his increase in disapproval rating. Every president usually has a drop in their approval rating months after their inauguration. A good amount of Americans who are in the middle of political parties are extremely upset with Obama, his bailouts of Wall Street banks while American people are losing their job, pensions and homes. People get caught up and look at Obama as an individual not so much his policies. Obama said that he will pull all armed forces out of Iraq, which he did, but we are currently still heavily involved in
