Zara is a Spanish brand which makes clothes and accessories and it is a flagship brand of the Inditex group. Zara started with a small store in a city called A Coruña, Spain and it became the largest retailer of the world the last years and his founder, Amancio Ortega, the 2nd richest man in the world. Zara has stores in 88 countries with over 65000 outlets. Also, it has flagship stores on Fifth Avenue in New York, Oxford Street in London, Calle Serrano in Madrid and in other cities like Rome, Paris, Tokyo, etc… It sells women´s and men´s clothes, shoes, cosmetics and accessories, and even children’s clothes. Some of the global competitors that the company has are GAP, H&M and Benetton competing on price / fashion.
The founder Amancio Ortega created a dress making factory called Inditex in 1963. Ten years later, he established a small store called Zorba in La Coruña, city in the north west of Spain and later the name was changed to the actual Zara. The company expanded slowly its business from a small town in Spain to the rest of the country and even Portugal. By the 1990´s Zara was an international brand finding stores in The United States and most of the Europe. Currently, Zara has more than 7000 stores across 88 countries around the world.
