Speech On Exotic Animals

Exotic Animals as Pets Bears, sugar gliders, snakes, black panthers, snow tigers, flying squirrels, bearded dragons, chameleons, pythons, geckos, iguanas, lemurs—these are just a few of the huge list of unusual, or so called exotic, animals that people might own or trade. The availablity of these extoic animals has made it easy to acquire or to sell them. It is harmful to the animals, the environment and even humans. It may be marginally legal to sell and own these animals, however, in many places it is illegal and is punishable by law. It is an increasing popular trend that will keep growing exponentially if no measures are taken.

Without human interference I think nature will take it’s role to balance out the wild animal’s population. Another reason is simply why not? People who have the money and time to buy and take care of any of these pets, they have the freedom to do so, even if it is behind closed doors. Exotic animal activists mention that “Exotic pet owners keep exotic pets for the same reasons that domesticated animal owners keep domesticated pets, which is the hope of a symbiotic relationship with their creature of choice.” Which is completely understandable, as long as no one falls victim to these creatures.
In the hands of unprepared or incompetent caretakers, their exotic animals die, neglected and eventually thrown away out into the streets. Some people try to return unwanted animals into the wild or are simply abandoned outdoors. Without appropriate habitats or rehabilitation, these animals more often than not fall victim to predators, diseases, starvations and the exposure to the rough elements. If they do survive, they may overpopulate and wreak havoc with the ecosystem, killing native species. This has happened many times around the world and it can cause serious damage to the
