My experience as the Chief Digital Editor and Director of Subscription for the school newspaper, The Exonian (theexonian.com), has allowed me to use my technical skills and business knowledge to help the community. Whether creating advertising campaigns, leading website developments, or simply undergoing the weekly grind of uploading articles to the website and distributing the newspaper to our 200 paying subscribers and the entire student body, I am always working to expand our reach and improve the customer experience. Beyond this, it is rewarding to know that I am helping educate the student body, alumni, and parents about both the good and bad things happening in our community.

The club effectively televises school announcements to the student body in a humorous manner, so the students pay attention to important information. I have tried to start this club in the past, but was continuously told it was too much of a challenge and would not work out. The rejection just made me more ambitious to establish this important club, as I would not take no for an answer. Almost every Saturday morning when I was in elementary school, my mother would wake me up for breakfast which usually consisted of cinnamon toast and cereal, I would get dressed in my favorite purple outfit, and pack. I would fill my small book bag with Barbie dolls, coloring books, and the whatever I was reading for school. Before leaving, my mother would make sure to stop by the gas station for snacks and to fill up on gas. We were going on a trip! We were headed to my grandparents’ house forty-five minutes away in Pascagoula, Mississippi; however, it felt like we had to drive for a full day.…

When I was little, I wanted to be a chemist. I imagined myself in the lab coat and with goggles on, carefully pouring electric blue liquids and jade green foam back and forth into various containers, until something had exploded and I had discovered the best way to make flowers the size of people. As I grew up, I lost this fantasy, but I gained more knowledge on how I wanted to influence the world. Funnily enough, I discovered what I really wanted to do when I started working at Chick-fil-A during the summer before my sophomore year. All of my friends had warned me against working in fast food, quoting horrible smells and ridiculous customers and tons of grease.…
