My name is Mayson Colon. I am a senior at Lake Mary High school and my next step in life is go to college. Leaving home is going to be hard because I love my family and I am going to miss them. Having to learn responsibility such as: paying bills, buying things I want with my own money, which I won’t have, and remembering to put school first so I will be successful, is going to be difficult. I have to leave the house and face the challenges of life. The first step is leaving home, which is where I must physically and emotionally be ready. No matter where life takes you after high school I need to be ready for change. The second step is trials and tribulations. This is where I learn that I’m either going to push myself or let others push me. I realize how I can be controlled and what happens from there. The third step is looking within. Here I learn about myself. I’ll learn my personality, career choice, my interest and values. The last step is finding my bliss. Here is where I will learn decision making skills that I will need for life.

At the bottom is physiological needs, next is safety and security, love and belonging, self-esteem, and then at the top is self-actualization. It’s importance to have a sense of belonging because nobody wants to feel negative energy in their lives, especially when it is directed towards them. People need to stop waiting for others to love them, they need to learn to love themselves. People need to feel like they belong and are important in others’ lives. People who have trouble being accepted get involved in whatever they can to feel the sense of belonging, but should not involve themselves with drugs or gang related groups to feel this. This will only make the situation worse and lower their self-esteem. The best thing to do is surround yourself with positive people who have the knowledge you need to fulfill your
