The existence of mermaids has been a long and controversial topic for years! The legends of mermaids have even been dated back to the time of Christopher Columbus discovering the Americas. Comparing mermaids to humans is quite an easy topic to discuss, but also maybe a far-fetched one as many people all over the world roll their eyes at the stories and tales of the existence of them. People are just afraid of what they don't know, that's why we say ''ignorance is bliss'', and when it comes to mermaids, there are many facts about their nature and how they may treat similar creatures like us is what scares us. Millions of years ago, apes would live in the trees, but many were drawn to the ocean for food. With the changing Earth and many volcanic eruptions along the coast, apes left and went inland to survive, but could it be that some went into the water to find another way of life, thus creating the aquatic ape? If humans evolved from apes, and mermaids evolved from apes, then that would explain why we look similar, but obviously have different features, it's just the result of the environment we evolved in. We call what we walk on, the ground, but what's at the bottom of the ocean, we call the sea floor. Both of these places have plants and different animals that inhabit them, for instance, on land, we have the dog as our companion, but in the ocean, seals are the dogs of the sea. Dolphins are the mermaids companion, they hunt together, just as we do with our dogs. But not all species are alike.
