To the average American, the word “exercise” stimulates a certain kind of mood or reaction that produces a negative connotation. This, however, should be the exact opposite of how someone should react to such a simple task because it produces an immense amount of benefits. Exercising can be executed in several easy ways that usually take between 10-15 minutes. There are 1,440 minutes in a day, and exercising for only 10 of those 1,440 minutes can do tremendous things for someone’s personal health. some of these simple exercises include: squats, jumping jacks, or even stretching. All in all, exercising daily for a reasonable amount of time allows for a healthier body composition, lowered risks of disease/death, and improved overall mood …show more content…
Scientifically, regular exercise slows down the aging process, which in turn slows down the shrinking of the brain, skin, muscles, and bones. All of these components of the body shrink because of a strand of DNA called Telomeres. Telomeres gradually shrink over time as a result of the aging process. Exercising regularly has been proven, in over 40 separate studies (Regular Exercise Reduces a Large Number of Health Risks), to slow down the shrinking of the Telomere strand causing the aging process to also slow down. To simplify everything, a human body is going to break down gradually and eventually be unable to operate. Regular exercise slows down the decay process of the human body and allows for a longer average life span. Studies have proven that regular exercise is actually more beneficial to someone’s body, than a smoker that quit smoking. If exercising regularly produces all of these exceptional benefits, why do people generally shy away from exercise? The answer is that when the average person thinks of exercising, they automatically associate a weight gym or running and do not want to go through all the effort and pain just for some “measly” benefits. As stated earlier, just 10 minutes a day of stretching, yoga, crunches, pushups, squats, etc, is adequate enough to receive and reap the rewards of exercising regularly. Exercising for 10 minutes takes up less than one percent of someone’s day and produces countless effective results. So next time a commercial comes on, jump off that couch and get some exercise in.
