Decent Essays
So screen time for children these days is getting out of hand i think these days espically with all the technolegy being introduced to us and or kids . I believe at a young age kids should absolutey spend a fair amount watching tv or playing video game but you need to becareful howmuch time you are giving these kids because to much time can be harmful. Studys show the negative affect it can cause on kids , causing confusion and sleep loss also depression sometimes, but it also has advantages aswell you could say as in teaching kids how to be independent and social with there everyday life . There is many shows and programs that can provide a positive outlook for kids these days. My own personal experience my parents always let me watch tv …show more content…
I was always apart of school activities and sports which helped me stay away from tv too and thats where i learned to be social and learn things we use in our everyday life to succeed. These studys recently are now showing that these test and observations in the past years that something positive is coming from alot of screen play which can be true which leads back to watching something useful or taking test or strategy games is what i believe where they getting the results from. So what you provide for your kids or your sister/brother to watch or play on is a major key now i would say beacause it can be educational or something to kill time why not have them learn from it rather to hurt them or give them a negative outlook or bad choice in life . Everyone has there opinion though

Although dated, but still relevant, previous studies proved this to to be grossly underestimated (Maccoby, 1954). According to Ray & Jat (2010) “as children spend more total time watching TV, they spend a significantly shorter amount of time with friends as compared to those who don’t” (p.562). This concludes the more time children spend watching TV, the less time they have to develop social skills and have time with their families. This contributes to the lack of socialization skills children need to be successful in their everyday lives.…

Furthermore, television has a harmful impact on our nation’s youth by promoting violence, sexual content, and foul language. Kids who absorb a lot of media are less likely to do well in school, be adjusted socially, and are more likely to be overweight than kids who are low users of media.
