Warped Thinking Humans are prone to having unusual thinking; this way of thinking has created so much! Unusual ways of thinking are what have brought humans to great milestones like landing on the moon, creating airplanes and cars, and tiny computers that can fit in the palm of someone’s hand. Sadly, the odd ways of thinking are not always good; sometimes it can be a very warped way of thinking. Thoughts and ideas and can be contorted and twisted, even be used to be cruel to others. Halloween is like a horror movie, except with drunk teenagers instead of axe murders. It was about two years ago, when we were still living in Germany. It was a fairly peaceful Halloween night and the sun was about to set. My friends and I were walking around the village, what Germans call a town. After about half an hour of us walking around and talking, some acne filled, tall, muscular and older, German teenagers came up to us.…
All by Herself During the writing of “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, she goes to great depths and lengths to describe the young, upper-middle-class woman who is newly married to a physician named John and a mother yet a nameless narrator who has a character of what she describes herself as, “a slight hysterical tendency” (Gilman 64). How would one expect the personality and character of a woman who is sent to a quiet and empty house, by her husband, be? A character analysis of the narrator and wife of John, reveals throughout this writing her depression, how she overcomes it while she is being isolated from the world, and how she regains her freedom of thoughts and actions.…

When a city is designed for the people to move around and enjoy their surroundings, it is considered a walkable city. I live in Paramount, California where only some parts of this city could be considered walkable. From where I live, there are no public services i can reach by walking and feeling comfortable. However, there are some places where public services are close enough for you to walk to comfortably and easily. The reasons why it may not be walkable is the size of the sidewalks; the sidewalks tend to be very narrow, cutting pedestrians off when walking with at least more than two people.…

H.P. Lovecraft once said,“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown”. The unknown can be seen as the outsiders of society. Albert Camus, a French-Algerian writer writes the story of Meursault, a man detached emotionally from society in French-Algeria during the 1940s. In the novel, Camus explores the philosophy of the Absurd in which expresses a fundamental disharmony; a confrontation between our human desire for order or meaning in life and the blank indifference (Simpson). Camus' novel, The Stranger, utilizes character and plot development to complement each other and therefore illustrate the philosophical notion of the Absurd.…

Sir James Matthew Barrie arrived into this world on May 9, 1860, in Kirriemuir, Angus, Scotland as the ninth of ten children. His father, although poor, found moderate success as a hardworking small town weaver. James’ parents, not wanting their children to know poverty, instilled in their children the values of ambition, hard work, and a thirst for education. His father, David, grew up without many opportunities, and after having ten children of his own knew he had to give them more than he had. All ten of the intelligent Barrie children had opportunities and attended school in preparation for their careers.…
