Exemplification Essay: The Definition Of Success

We live in a world in which its population all stand in different places either socially or economically but all race towards success. The definition of success is unique to each individual but so is the place we begin on our way there. In a perfect world we would all have the same access to resources and education but unfortunately we are all born into different families and begin our journey on different platforms, creating a large divide between each other as we aspire for similar things. These unfair divisions between each other force some to work harder than other to obtain the same things or even less and the worse part is that we either want or hate these privileges depending on our own status.

My family comes from a town in which your last name and the amount of land your family owns defines you: Alausi, Ecuador. I visit the town every summer and see the same things over and over again; kids not allowed to be friends with each other, lovers being denied, and unfair judgement. But by who? By our own families. I see the prejudice people have for one another within this small town, but how is it ok to keep two children from playing with each other or not giving someone a fair amount of respect because they are not as fortunate as you. Not only do I see this corruption in Ecuador but I see it here in Greenwich; I look around at my classmates and do not question for a minute how lucky we are to be at Greenwich Academy and Brunswick. We all have this opportunity given by our schools to have a better education and better exposure at a higher cost of 45,000 dollars. Not everyone can afford this luxury and yes there are ways around the payment with scholarships and aid but that does not mean that the journey ahead is not twice as hard. I selfishly would not give anything up and I am aware of how disgusting that is, but instead I am thankful for the opportunities and the advantages I
