Abortion is a horrible thing to do to a baby, and is morally wrong. Abortion is when a pregnant woman decides that she does not want to have any children so she kills the baby before it is born. Abortion is not acceptable and is morally wrong because people now use abortion as contraception, it is murder, and it has long emotional and physical trauma on a woman. First off, women and their partner are now using abortion as contraception, and not being smart to use a condom or birth control pills. Instead of couples being smart about the way they have sex and using any kind of contraception they are now using abortion as a way out of having that child. For example, in the US “statistics show that 21% of all viable pregnancies end in abortion …show more content…

So there are both negative impacts on their emotions, but it has serious risk such as cancer. There are many things in life that are thought to be good for some people, but bad for others. This is commonly known as the dissoi logoi, which is intended to help an individual gain a deeper understanding of an issue by forcing the person to consider it from the angle of their opponent. A great example that represents the dissoi logoi is abortion. Abortion is the ending of pregnancy by removing a fetus or embryo from the womb before it can survive on its own. This procedure can happen through medication or the fetus can be surgically removed.…

I agree with Marquis when he states that abortion is only not seriously wrong in unusual circumstances such as rape or if the baby has little to no chance at survival. Abortion is an important topic in today’s society because in 2016 people from younger age groups are ending up pregnant with no chance of taking care of the baby, this results in child abuse and neglect. It is very easy for me to oppose abortion because I am not in this decision making process, the answer always boils down to the mother and her decision making choices. If abortion is the only chance at a mothers survival then it should be excepted. Rarely do you find a women who has been raped and impregnated that keeps the baby and is actually happy with the choice of keeping the child.…

Abortion is a touchy issue. Many say it is okay, others are totally against it, and some think it’s acceptable, depending of the circumstances. In my opinion, it’s wrong and not at all necessary, unless in the case of pregnancy, the mother is informed she will perish during the pregnancy term. Science continues to say a fetus is only a small “lump of tissue” but it isn’t, it’s human, it is a life. We are taught, “You shall not murder,” yet there are about 100, 000 lives aborted yearly.…

Kant does this with his deontological theory which describes how morality should be focused on duties and adhere to rules and imperatives, and Bentham opposes this with utilitarianism views, which focuses on the consequences of an action.…

One health risk is psychological damage to mothers who had abortions. Chittom and Newton (2016) reported that “sadness, depression, guilt, anxiety, numbness, and shame are just a few of the psychological effects common to women who had abortions.” According to “Should Abortion be Legal” (2016), a study done by BMC Magazine reported that women who had abortions often have higher anxiety levels and are 154% more likely to commit suicide than other women. The Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology reported a study on the effects on men whose partners had abortions and it found that 51.6% had regrets, 45.2% felt sadness, and 25.8% experienced depression (“Should Abortion be Legal,” 2016). Chittom and Newton (2016) note that Pro-Life activists often explain the long term emotional, spiritual, psychological, and physical trauma after the procedure as post-abortion syndrome, which is not officially recognized by the medical world.…

Another topic that has been used against pro-choice supporters and abortionists is the topic of abortion being “immoral”. Pro-life supporters talk about the immorality of abortion by saying that it is the murder of babies. On the contrary, abortion is not even remotely close to murder. Murder, by definition, is the act of one human taking away the life of another human. The pregnancy is not a human yet and therefore, cannot be referred to as a human (even abortion doctors refer to the embryo as the pregnancy) which means that abortion is not equal to murder.…
