Riverside Bayview Homes Inc. 474 U.S. 121 (1985) The developer Riverside Bayview Homes was filling its property, which was located next to Lake St. Clair, Michigan, with fill material. The district court held that this area was considered a wetland under the Corps’ definition. This was then reversed in the Court of Appeals, which stated that the Corps’ must avoid taking without just compensation which violates the Fifth Amendment, thus giving the developer the right to fill their property without a permit.…

Mentorship plays such an important role in all of our lives regardless of vocation and interests. Delving into history we see how many of the renowned innovators, actors, politicians, and business leaders were mentored during some stage of their lives. I can recall the names of a few mentor-mentee relationships I became aware of over time - Plato mentored by Socrates - David Letterman mentored by Peter Lassally - Warren Buffet mentored by Benjamin Graham – Steve Jobs mentored by Robert Friedland - Russell Crowe mentored by Tom Sharpin and Bill Gates mentored by Dr. Ed Roberts. Having participated in mentorship at both ends of the spectrum, I know firsthand about its benefits, which include maturity, focus, diligence, accountability and sustained…

Introduction Societal complications have manifested throughout all of history and it can be said that the response to them has been socially determined (Chenoweth & McAuliffe, 2015, p. 32). Social justice is one of the central concepts within community work as it is concerned with the service delivery and the ways in which it is delivered. Furthermore, advocacy, empowerment, inclusiveness, and social, ecological and economic sustainability are part of how community organisations are created, evaluated, and sustained. This paper will be evaluating the delivery of services by the Wesley Mission, a community organisation as part of the Uniting Church of Australia. In addition, the ways in which the Wesley Mission succeeds in service delivery as well as the shortcomings, exclusion, and prejudices involved in their principles, values, and overall work will be discussed.…

The Servant by James C. Hunter provides a foundation and an understanding of true leadership. Through the lives of John Daily and five other struggling leaders on a retreat, Hunter uses Brother Simeon to explain the principles of servant leadership, which causes John and the others to reflect deeply on their character, trust, and commitment. Creating and deepening the principles described by Brother Simeon will enhance one’s leadership perspective and will prove to be beneficial for a school principal. “Leadership is the skill of influencing people to work enthusiastically toward goals identified as being for the common good” (Hunter, 2012, p 28). To influence people, you must build authority, which is done when you identify and meet the…
