“Lady Dominique, may I have this dance?” a third man asked. Knowing that Ann would not let her sit it out, she accepted this dance as well. He remained quiet for the first part. “I am Sir Harkin,” he introduced himself. Tizbeth looked again and realized that she didn’t know the young man, even in passing. “I’ve just been knighted,” he told her eagerly. She took note of the life about him. She looked at him closer. With mousey hair and dull blue eyes, he wasn’t as attractive as Donovan. But happy with his lot. “Will you be staying close by?” Tizbeth asked. “I will be part of Lord Donovan’s men at arms here at the castle.” “Well I hope you will let me know how you are progressing.” He blushed. “I’m glad you came out on the dance …show more content…
He stood on the sideline with the punch in his hands, his eyes never leaving her. He nodded, set down the cups after the second time Donovan cut her escape short, and walked out of the ballroom defeated. Finally, after most of the guests had gone to bed or fallen asleep in his chair, Lord Donovan looked over his shoulder. “Tizbeth you look tired. Why don’t you go to bed?” She glared at him, curtsied and stomped off to her room.

So embarrassed by the whole episode, Tizbeth did not leave her room for breakfast or lunch. She was not surprised at the knocking that started right after lunch. “Ann, tell me you smuggled out an apple?” Tizbeth said through the door, lumbering out of her curled up position. “I’ll know for next time,” Lord Donovan said. Tizbeth paused in the middle of the room. She did not want to see him, she told herself. No she admitted to herself. She enjoyed his company and his smile. Even after the show the night before, she craved his presence so she opened the door to him. He had a plate of biscuits and a sheepish expression. “Yes M’ Lord.” “I thought these and a ride may lure you out.” “I am not feeling

You were embarrassed last night.” She could not help but raise an eyebrow. “I embarrassed you last night,” he amended. “May I ask what I did that was so very wrong? I don’t want to repeat the mistake.” He ran a hand through his hair. “I got jealous,” he admitted. “You had every other girl there held in rapt attention. You didn’t need me.” “But I wanted you. Just like I would like for you to go with me for a ride.” This wasn’t fair. Her heart danced in her chest. “Just you Lady Dominique.” It was a fool’s errand, asking to get her heart broken, but isn’t this why she came to the castle? To be as happy as she could be? “I can’t ride in this,” she waved at her dress. “I will meet you in the stables in an hour and please have them find a very docile mare.” Donovan nodded and left. “You are a fool,” Tizbeth told herself as she changed. “No,” she argued with herself, “the fool would stay hidden in her room. Go enjoy time with him until someone else catches his eye. His attention will fade.” But it did not. He asked her to dance or play hostess, regardless of who vied for the job. He sought her out and brought her flowers and silly trinkets. He never let a day pass that he did not seek her

DIRT, WASTE, AND OUTCAST. The golden men in freshly groomed suits would’ve described the outskirt of this deserted place, yet they still manage to stop by once in awhile. I assumed the destination in which every conscious minds would have resisted to stop here, as the valley of ashes laid between their desires; the yellow city of life, itself. It was early noon under the vacant sunlight when two men appeared, almost solidly, at the rusting door of my garage.…

'That's true, and the boredom would be unbearable, although I wonder how good of a job I'm doing protecting those many. " Lyle's expression turned sombre when Elizabeth's reply caused him to glance at the images of the five dead men, reflecting the weight of responsibility he'd taken on. Any further murders between now and capturing the perpetrator would be on Carter's hands. Although intellectually aware that wasn't true and he could only follow the evidence where it led, that instinctive reaction reflected the man he was and what made him good at his job. He'd never stop.…

Ahaankti: Ahaan & Pankti I took a day off at work because of the pouring rain outside, so I am the only person in the house. The dark grey colored sky outside pushes light just far enough into the corners of my house to see my way to the living room without turning a light on. There is no chattering in the house because I am alone, no air conditioning hum, or no flickering fluorescent lights. I sit down slowly on the couch beside the window quietly thrilled at the novelty of being alone, absorbing the quiet, the empty spaces in the room, and watching the birds find its way to the nest. Just then I saw a rabbit outside and I can tell that rabbit had nowhere to go, so I went outside the door to help the rabbit.…
