Excerpt from Keiko’s bomb

The town exploded with a loud, rumbling sound. I looked up and faced the blinding light with intense heat. Seconds after, the ground started shaking with a vibration that I hadn't felt before. I ran as fast as I could, my heart thumping. Each step I took, my heartfelt heavier. As my hand grasped onto mythe thumping heart, I saw that my left hand was now all covered in blood. People seemed like they were flying in the air;he sound had stopped but the bodies were falling.
"Fa-bumb..bumb..thumb.."
Every second, body parts were falling. I saw familiar faces as I was running. I started screaming, my face all wrinkled of fear. Moms were yelling, but I couldn't distinguish whether it was screaming looking for their children

I HAD TO. I told Naruzi she wasn't my friend anymore and I didn't want to see her again. After that day, I hadn't seen her, when I realized, I might not be able to see her again live. My left hand stung, but it wasn't like the burn I felt in my heart. I was running around the building, opening every curtain. I couldn't see a glimpse of Naruzi. "Is she dead? Is she alive?" Questions stormed in my head until I fell asleep in the chair. It was cold but safe than the houses in Nagasaki.
I woke up at the wail of a person, finding my body cringed on top of the chair. As the building was cold, I had to make myself warm by cringing. I sat up walked towards the door. There was nothing left. Nothing. Jungle without animals. It was impossible to find Naruzi, where there was nothing to guide me where the place was. The only friend I can be with was the wind, which seemed to guide me.Seeing a dead body now was mundane but I still was gasping. There were some people who were seizing by the ankle for help, but I couldn't.
I stopped walking when I saw a familiar piece. I looked closely at the piece. A piece of Daruma Otoshi. I resisted to believe that it was Naruzi's, but once I saw a girl covered in pieces of wood, I knew it was

The article, Hiroshima, was capable of giving readers an insight into the events that plagued those involved in an unbiased way, allowing the readers to formulate their own opinions through the objective tone in the article. In Hiroshima, Hersey avoids any biases by focusing solely on the facts that happened during the event. When introducing the characters and the situation each person endured, he remained a neutral tone so that the events that occurred could be explained on its own without adopting his attitude in the novel. For instance, when Miss Sasaki was crushed by the bookshelf, “The ceiling dropped suddenly and the wooden floor above collapsed in splinters and the people up there came down and the roof above them gave way; but principally and first of all, the bookcases right behind her swooped forward and the contents threw her down, with…

It was an average, hot day in Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Home to the Japanese army’s Second General Headquarters, yet also home to 280,000 civilians, 43,000 military personnel, and 20,000 Korean forced laborers (Gray, Paul, and Kunii). Everything had been running accordingly, adults going to their jobs, school children assisting in the cleaning of the streets, until they saw a foreign object, hurling at them at a fast speed. It exploded before anyone had the chance to choke out the work ‘bomb’, leaving the menace behind the death trap, President Truman,a villain to Japan. The Japanese had attacked multiple places before the bombing occurred, including cities such as Shanghai, Manchuria, and most famously, Pearl Harbor.…

Disbelieve and fear shook my mind as I lie on my back, sitting on top of concrete sandwiched in between the hot metal hood of a car, as the weight pressed down against me it didn’t hurt, my body was too numb to feel anything. All I could feel was a car pushing me further into the ground pushing my lungs down and shutting air out of it. It felt too surreal I kept blinking as if I thought I’d wake up from this mess. I could see sirens and people gathering around me watching in disbelieve, I kept fading in and out of conscience I felt like I was close to death.…

She crosses the tile floor, hazel eyes fixated on the bottom drawer to her antique desk, late forties or early fifties. What lies in the bottom drawer is a device so powerful—no—so dangerous, that it had to be hidden once it reach completion. It's been many years since she dared to gaze upon the device in fear of someone with nefarious intentions stumbles upon its dwelling place. Falling to her knees, she ignores the burning of her nose as she stirs up dust and cobwebs, and reaches for the desk handle, inching it open just enough for her to see the black metallic gleam on the small, circular device. Her finger grazes the top of the device, silently noting how cold it is, but she tears her eyes away a moment—just to catch a glimmer of the outside world through the long over arching window in her bedroom— to watch the falling white snowflakes coat the world in a blanket of perfection,…
