Who is to blame for all of the tragedies in the play, Romeo and Juliet? Romeo and Juliet was written by Shakespeare in 1597. It is one of his famous tragedies. In the play, there are many sad things that happen, and the person to blame is Romeo. Romeo is to blame because he does stupid things, rushes things, and is in love with love, which in the end, leads to his death.
Romeo does some very stupid things, he goes to a Capulet party he is not invited to, he kills Tybalt, and he marries Juliet after knowing her for less than 24 hours. Romeo reads an invitation about a Capulet party and decides to go. This is one of the first stupid things Romeo does. He wants to go so he can see Rosaline, a girl he likes, but the he sees Juliet. Tybalt and Mercutio get into a fight, and Tybalt ends up killing Mercutio. Then, Romeo kills Tybalt out of anger. This causes Romeo to get banished, which was a stupid thing because Romeo did not think about the consequences. The last thing he does that is not that smart is he marries Juliet after knowing her for only about 24 hours. As they get married, Friar Lawrence says, “For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone, till Holy church incorporate two in one” (Shakespeare 79). It is not a good idea to marry someone that fast.
