My Vision for my Life
What is vision? Vision means the ability to perceive something not actuality visible (Webster dictionary). What does it mean to have a vision? Vision is like having a spiritual rudder that guides us in life; it give us a sense of direction so we do not wander (Sharp 18; Holmes 6). My vision in life, that the Lord has revealed to me so far, is to be a missionary, work with youth, and have a ministry in music and singing.

Over the past eleven years I have watched as friend after friend has left the ways of God and go into the world. Their hearts became waxed cold, their ears dull, and they became spiritually blind (Acts 28:27). As I watched this happen and watched as the problems with the youth became greater and greater, I said to myself that they really need God. It was then, I believe, that I felt a great burden for them. Something happened this week that made this burden grow even more: my, really only friend, ran away from home and has “forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God” (Prov. 2:17). She is just one example of many who have been trained in the ways of God yet there is an area in their hearts that they do not let God work in. I am praying that when I am done with Bible school, the Lord will open up the door so I can begin to work with the youth when I go

God had been with me every step of the way that week bringing scripture verses to my mind that I had previously learned. The one verse that impacted me the most was Isaiah 41:13; For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” As she shared these things with me, I could see the pride and gratefulness on her face and hear the joy in her voice. I knew her relationship with God was real and unique to that of most teenagers her…

It is often said that teenagers begin discovering themselves in high school, but I did the opposite- I lost myself. The source of my pleasure and delight shifted from books to parties, writing to boys, and video-games to my social life. Something within me desperately craved to be normal- to no longer be the girl that gets harassed and ostracized for being an “appalling nerd” and because of this, vital aspects of my personality began to change and I morphed into an entirely different person. Through this journey, I learned that my self-hate was a catalyst for self-love and appreciation.
