First off, I chose irony for the literary term because when Holden says, “But my parents, especially my mother, she had ears like a goddamn bloodhound.” I got a bit nervous knowing that she can wake up by the sound of a pin drop and it make me wonder what was going to happen to Holden if he got caught. Would his mother be upset? Or would she be delighted to see her son? It felt as if it was a dramatic irony at the moment. Holden decided to sneak into his house to see phoebe because he got kicked out of Pency, his old school, and he has to be home until Wednesday but the day he sneaked in was on Sunday but he does not want his parents to see him.
