Vengeance and justice can go hand and hand but only when vengeance is used and it has been forgiven. Justice and vengeance goes hand and hand but not all the time like for example in “What We Plant We Will Eat”. The story is a folktale about the value of forgiveness. In What We Plant We Will Eat the two brothers were supposed to share the land when their father had passed away. But instead the older brother had kicked out the younger brother. In my example it showed that the older brother had given his younger brother vengeance. This story is based on how much you’re supposed to value mercy. When the older brother didn’t have a thing and was begging for money and food, the younger brother had come up to him and felt bad and he helped him out. In this part of the story the younger brother could have of also done the same thing his brother had done, but instead he had mercy and has given justice.

Dusk is a folktale where a prisoner had killed a child and the parents of the child were going to hang the prisoner. The parents of the daughter that has been killed had planned on taken vengeance instead of forgiving. Justice was also shown in the story when they did hang him, the brand new rope had ripped while he was being hung and after that the mother had felt bad for him and they said that they had forgiven him and let him live. They forgave him the prisoner and instead of having vengeance they had mercy and forgave. Vengeance and forgiveness was given in this story and it shows that it went hand and
