To first identify the universal truth in “The Great Gatsby”, one must understand the definition of the word. A universal truth is a common conmparison that happens amongst everyone, something that is true amongst all the characters despite any differences between them. The universal truth in the book is love despite how different the characters are or how different the situations they are in. In the novel, “The Great Gatsby”, numerous relationships are shown to be prime examples of two people showing affection for each other despite their differences in wealth or interests. The different social statuses between each character is irrelevant when introduced to love, proving that money and fame does not truly bring you happiness, but love does.
