Thesis Statement- Flag burning in the United States perceived by a certain freedom of representation while to others it is an utter disrespect for this great country. Protesting or being able to stand up for what you believe in is one of those human rights that every United States citizen guaranteed. There have been instances when others have terrorized this right. When these threats happened, our armed forces answered the call to protect our freedoms. The American flag is the image of the freedom that those service members gave their lives to defend. I believe that is wrong for someone to burn a flag in a protest. I have served in the Marine Corps and seeing that flag is a sign of respect and appreciation for all of those paid the ultimate sacrifice for my freedoms that I can enjoy …show more content…
The flag stands for various things but why would someone want to give burn such a price less gift. There a most certain times when the American flag needs to be burned but not out of protest. If a flag has a torn or hole, it is most respectful to burn that flag.
I have many friends and family that are war veterans and everyone would tell you that they were proud to say they served this great nation. Even though they do not agree with the whole thing that our government may or may not be doing, they are proud to be part of the greatest nation thanks to our ancestors. Any veteran I can think of on the top of my head would definitely say that flag burning is a rotten occurrence and whether or not people say it is nothing personal, veterans take it very personal.
Lee Greenwood said it best in his song “Proud to be an American”. I am proud to be an American where at least I know I am free. And I will not forget the men died, who gave that right to me. And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today. Cause there aint no doubt I love this land God bless the
