The Possible Causes Of Climate Change

Improved Essays
Climate change is the nations leading environmental problem, and the way humans live their daily lives climate disaster is inevitable. The rate at which technology is improving and humans are consuming the treadmill effect is taking its toll on society. A good example of the treadmill effect is the value humans put on the next best thing. In the business world innovation is the key to success because consumers always want the next best thing. Throwing away the old product to buy a new product creates waste which is speeding up the process of climate change. The likelihood our human race will solve the current climate crisis is improbable to me. As long as humans value business over the environment and society our generation will never solve …show more content…
The future requires businesses to focus on the triple bottom line (people, profit, planet) in order to be sustainable. An example of business model that failed because of their inability to be sustainable was DuPont Chemicals. DuPont decided to ignore the triple bottom line and dump all their excess chemicals into a local water supply contaminating the water supply and destroying the eco system around it. When DuPont was found for their injustice it caused a huge problem for their business and ultimately made them not nearly as profitable as they could’ve been if they had decided to deal with their negative externalities in a sustainable manner, and follow a stakeholder approach to business. A good example of a sustainable company is Patagonia a company that prides itself on using recyclable material to make its products. Patagonia also advocates for the protection of the environment, and have proven that a company can be sustainable and successful in the business world. However, the problem with this is there are far more DuPont’s in the world than Patagonia and this is why I ultimately believe we are moving to fast as a society in the means of production, but we are moving to slow as a society to fix the treadmill effect and climate …show more content…
The forest is one of our last sources of nature balancing out all of our emissions that we are releasing into the atmosphere. Deforestation is rising at an alarming rate and if we don’t solve this problem we wont have anything left to counter our negative externalities. The destruction of the forest is caused by our inability to as human race to put the world we live in over the made up economic world we have built within it. Finally, water waste is a rising issue as our population continues grow and our clean water supply is depleting. A few reasons for our depleting clean water supply are the pollution of clean water due to pollution. One of the main causes of polluting water is fracking and chemical dumping which are huge negative externalities from big companies ignoring their environmental responsibilities. Another way we are depleting our water supply is in the agriculture system. The amount of water we use to raise a cow is insurmountable. The amount it takes to raise one pound of beef is equivalent to 2,400 gallons of water, and we as humans consume that easily. Advocating for the human race to stop eating meat is not plausible, therefore I believe this problem will continue to grow. Concluding that us as a human race are to focused on materialistic products, money, and our economy. These factors are all irrelevant until we solve the climate disaster,

Maybe not in the near future but eventually, we will have no water left. It is fundamental to understand, what some (capitalists and businesses) are doing wrong, and how they are putting their mistakes under the rug so that it does not get portrayed the way it should be to us citizens. The media also plays a huge role in covering what is going on currently. I am on the ‘Pessimist’ side and believe that corporations are raping nature and the environment. While they are committing this crime, they are also causing disturbing and destructive harm to indigenous people and wild animals.…

Climate Change Climate change is one of the significant factors that have an impact on many of the Earth’s ecosystems, communities, and economies. Scientists have said that human activities are the leading cause of climate change and it should change that because if nothing changes now, it will continue to alter the environment that we depend on for survival. According to NASA, “human activities over the past 50 years have warmed our planet”. (NASA) Humans are a major cause in producing climate change by cutting down forests, burning of fossil fuels and driving.…

Climate scientists agree the main cause of climate change is greenhouse gas emissions. Created when sunlight reaches the Earth’s surface, it can either be absorbed by the Earth or reflected back into space. The planet releases some of the energy back into the atmosphere when the rest is absorbed as heat. These gases like carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor: absorb the energy, decelerating or inhibiting the loss of heat back into space. Therefore the gases acting like a blanket, causing the Earth to increase in temperature.…

The problems facing humanity today include the melting of arctic sea ice, the potential ocean stagnation, the mass displacement of humans from coastal cities, extreme droughts, to super storms. All these problems arise from global climate change stemming from the emittance of greenhouse gases. Some people believe these climate changes are not affected by human behavior, and that changes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions do not need to happen. I believe we don’t have time to wait and see if global climate change is human caused, when we have species of animals going extinct and superstorms of various sorts killing people and displacing others from their homes. The goal of this paper is to raise awareness that the Unites States can take viable…

Conflicts will inevitably be met during the process of meeting all needs in the triple bottom line as they are difficult to achieve simultaneously. The measurement or the degree a business is able to achieve their economic, social and environmental responsibilities is referred to the phrase created by John Elkington’s, ‘Triple Bottom Line’. The concept involves the measurement of a business’s profitability, the degree of society’s satisfaction and the extent of a business’s environmental responsibility. However achieving all these responsibilities simultaneously is practically impossible, however Tesla Motors shows possible strategies. Tesla Motors is an American automotive and energy storage company who sell residential batteries and fully…

If we don’t try and reverse and reduce these effects, we could be seeing these effects for centuries to come. Our grandchildren could grow up without a rainforest and have to deal with rampant climate change and higher CO2 emissions. We can combat this issue by electing the correct public officials who will help and finance efforts to battle climate change. This includes the correct president, as Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton believe in and are willing to battle climate change; but Donald Trump and Ted Cruz claim that climate change does not exist and is being used for financial gain. Electing the correct officials is not the only way we need to help combat this issue.…

It has been proven that what caused climate change is not only due to human factors but natural factors as well. As in the article “causes of climate change”, it talked about how the natural and anthropogenic effects are causes of the changes in our climate. Some natural causes are the effects of plate tectonics, volcanoes, the earth’s tilt, and ocean currents. Plate tectonics, where countries and “continents were all part of one large landmass” (Causes of climate change. Retrieved November 23, 2015 ) in the past, at some point in time moved into different positions and drift apart, caused continents around the earth to experience different climate conditions than they used to experience before this shift in their positions.…
