Interpretation
The Four-way test is way to make sure that what we do in the future only serves to help those around us. There are some instances that people forget the Golden rule and do not apply it in their life and this can damage relationships and the feelings of those around us, which many try to avoid. These rules simply elaborate on the Golden rule and are available to help people make harder decisions in their life.
Application
While these rules seem easy to those who do not apply it to their daily lives, in actuality they are more difficult to follow, especially when emotions get in the way.
Story
The rules that I had and have trouble following are number 3, “will it build good will and better friendships?” and 4, “will it be beneficial to all concern?” The first time that I was in a difficult situation where I had to apply one of these rules to my dilemma was my soft-more year. It began in my history class where my best friend;

When I saw that she had taken my seat beside my best friend, I decided that to keep the “good will” between the two of us that I would simply move. Although this was a hard decision on my part, I chose it because it was the only way to keep my friendship with my best friend intact without harming her feelings. Although I thought over my decision and wondered if it was right, I realized that I had no right to be overly jealous and it was only “fair” that the older friend had some time to her friend as well. Over the course of the year I began to make more friends around me, growing accustomed to my surroundings; my best friend and her old friend also managed to get along really well. It wasn’t until later that I realized how “beneficial” my decision had been for everybody involved; it had helped
